How are you involved with Apart of Me?
I’m an experienced coach and a senior HR professional. So I will be helping develop a people-centred structure and generally contributing to a positive and nurturing culture wherever and however I can.
Is there someone or something that you love that isn’t here anymore?
Lennie. One of the wisest people I ever knew was a woman who lived next door when I was young. I didn’t have any grandparents (or at least none you would trust your children with) so she looked after me a lot and became a surrogate grandmother.
Considering she was born at the beginning of the last century she could have held a lot of old-fashioned views. But she continued to learn her whole life and even in her 80s and 90s made friends with people from all walks of life and backgrounds she was unfamiliar with, never judging and always accepting people for who they are. I miss hearing the ‘new thing’ she has discovered each time we saw her, and the role model she was for simultaneously being the toughest and most tender person I have ever known.
What is guaranteed to make you laugh?
My cats… being cats. My kids… being kids.
List some silly facts about you:
I have ‘misophonia’ which means my normally calm demeanour can be easily broken by the sound of someone chewing loudly.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
It’s a cliché but “This too shall pass”.
